Person of Interest’s Michael Emerson Talks About Lost
POPSUGAR Entertainment’s reporter Allie Merriam recently got together with Michael Emerson (Lost) of the CBS hit drama Person of Interest.
Emerson talks about his character the eccentric billionaire Harold Finch. In the course of three seasons, the viewers have uncovered much about Mr. Finch. And some, including myself, still feel there so much more to discover about this mysterious yet fascinating person.
Even Mr. Emerson when asked if he knew everything about Finch replied, he still is learning about the role he portrays.
Sure I think you never stop learning about the character you play, although I think after three seasons you can be counted as the authority on the character you play and his personality.
Mr. Emerson went on to tell the interviewer, towards the end of season three there is a darker side to Finch than we have previously seen before. In a courtesy clip from CBS from the previously aired episode 3×15 “Last Call”, the perpetrator was a mysterious voice over the phone who Shaw (Sarah Shahi) described as being Finch if he were evil.
While most of us do believe Harold Finch has been a truly good guy, everyone on POI has been shown in shades of gray. What events will happen as we head to the conclusion of season three to bring out more of that evil counterpart? Not necessarily bad, but harder.
Michael continued the interview speaking about how he doesn’t enjoy watching himself but does get together with his wife Carrie Preston (True Blood, The Good Wife) and they’ll watch each other’s shows together.
They like to get to together as a family, to laugh and tell funny jokes, perhaps about what happened off screen when a particular scene was being filmed. It’s refreshing to see that these two fine actors don’t take themselves so seriously that they can’t still have fun with each other and with what they do.
The ten year anniversary of the ABC hit show Lost is coming up and Michael spoke about how being (he played the infamous Ben Linus) on that show changed his life. It brought him more into the public eye than ever before. It was also a good acting lesson on how to handle keeping a character “alive and interesting” for years, which is not an easy thing to do.
As a Person of Interest, Harold Finch and Michael Emerson fan, I am thankful he can use his Lost experience to better my viewing enjoyment.
