Det. Joss Carter Is Given Life Through Taraji P. Henson on CBS’ Person of Interest

With over 15 years experience in the entertainment industry, Taraji P. Henson is not unfamiliar with working on a weekly television series. She has appeared on such television shows as The Division and Boston Legal, as well as making several guest appearances on numerous programs before landing the role of New York Homicide Detective Joss Carter on CBS’ Person of Interest in 2011. Her talent and beauty are a wonderful addition to a show whose cast is mainly male.

On POI, Taraji P. Henson is establishing her character Det. Joss Carter as a strong woman who has become an invaluable member of the team. Carter is in a completely different place by the end of season two with John Reese (Jim Caviezel), who now considers her his ally, compared to when she was hunting him down at the beginning of the series. During the first season of Person Of Interest, Detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman) was partnered with Carter and she was distrustful of him (and rightly so!). Now, after two seasons, the two have a unique bond for partners. Det. Carter has also worked with Billionaire Harold Finch (Michael Emerson). While assisting him, she has developed a sincere respect for him and what he is trying to accomplish.

Taraji P. Henson has also appeared in a variety of movies over the years including Four Brothers (2005), Smokin’ Aces (2006), The Family That Preys (2008) and The Karate Kid (2010) just to name a few. Ms. Henson is also a talented vocalist who made her singing debut in the film Hustle & Flow (2005).

Although many actresses could have played the role of Detective Joss Carter, Taraji P. Henson definitely personifies this character.
